Genpact is hiring a Senior Manager – Legal Counsel (Legal & Compliance) to support its Chennai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Employment Laws:
- Provide legal advice on existing labour laws and regulatory changes.
- Handle employment-related litigation before courts and authorities and manage external counsel.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including periodic returns.
- Coordinate with government bodies on labour law and compliance matters.
- Real Estate Contracts and Compliances:
- Advise on structuring leases, licenses, and government land auctions.
- Draft and review documents such as development agreements, leases, licenses, and memorandums.
- Advise on legal and compliance aspects, including government concessions and incentives.
- Ensure compliance with vendor documentation and labour-related statutes such as CLRA and BOCW.
- Vendor Agreements and Compliances:
- Provide consistent and balanced legal advisory support to cross-functional teams.
- Conduct internal investigations and manage policy violations, Ombudsperson, and sexual harassment matters.
- Liaise with government departments and regulatory authorities.
- Work closely with external counsels and consultants on specialised matters.
- Provide legal inputs and support for client, regulatory, statutory, and internal audits.
- Stakeholder & Leadership Management:
- Communicate non-compliances and implement corrective actions.
- Provide timely legal advice to business teams.
- Support management in decision-making related to legal notices, summons, and disputes.
Eligibility
- LL.B. from a reputed institution.
- Experience in dealing with courts, tribunals, law enforcement authorities, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong understanding of labour laws, statutory compliances, and recently implemented Labour Codes.
- Ability to apply practical and business-oriented judgement to legal risk assessment.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Tamil, including speaking, reading, and writing.
- Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and manage complex issues.
