Details of the Job/Internship
Hitachi Rail is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel with experience of 8 to 10 years to join their office in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of corporate governance actions in accordance with relevant regional laws and regulations.
- Provide senior-level legal support for complex business matters, including M&A, finance transactions, and intellectual property.
- Draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial contracts, NDAs, and strategic industrial agreements.
- Lead and manage significant Indian-based legal matters, including complex arbitrations and litigations.
- Guide senior management on regulatory and legislative requirements to ensure seamless compliance and operational efficiency.
- Interface with the compliance function and supervise the maintenance of company registers and documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and senior management of the Indian Hitachi Rail entity.
- Coordinate and instruct external legal counsel to ensure the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective services.
- Identify potential legal risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies to support strategic planning.
Eligibility
- Law degree (LLB or JD) with admission to practice; an additional CS qualification is highly valuable.
- Minimum 8–10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- A mix of private practice and in-house experience, preferably within an international industrial company.
- Proven track record in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and complex contract negotiation.
- Preferred: Knowledge of the rail, oil & gas, power, aerospace, or automotive sectors.
- Experience working across APAC jurisdictions within a multinational organizational structure.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
