K2 Partnering Solutions is Senior Legal Counsel with 5-10 years of experience to join their office in Chennai.
Role and Responsibilities
Legal & Compliance Leadership
- Develop and lead a commercially driven, fit-for-purpose Legal & Compliance function.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the Head of Region and Finance Director (APAC) on all legal and compliance risk mitigation strategies.
- Support commercial negotiations in partnership with the Leadership Team and Executive Board.
- Ensure legal services meet business needs through efficient delivery and responsive support.
Risk Management & Legal Advisory
- Manage all litigation and lower court claims; act as legal representative where feasible.
- Maintain oversight of the litigation register and coordinate with external counsel when needed.
- Draft, review, and maintain company-wide contract templates in line with legal and regulatory changes.
- Ensure contract terms meet global minimum standards and support business objectives.
Employment & Commercial Law
- Provide hands-on legal support for employment law issues, particularly across APAC jurisdictions.
- Advise on employment contracts, disputes, terminations, compliance, and HR-related risks.
- Assist in the resolution of employment tribunal matters and internal employee concerns.
Company Secretarial Duties (APAC)
- Fulfill all Company Secretary responsibilities in accordance with local corporate laws.
- Maintain accurate statutory records, board resolutions, and compliance documentation.
- Keep Directors informed of legal obligations and sign legal documents where authorized.
Governance & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure internal policies and operations align with regulatory frameworks, authorization matrices, and group-wide compliance standards.
- Lead compliance reviews and internal audits; update policies as necessary.
- Promote a culture of legal and ethical integrity across the organization.
Team Management & Development
- Supervise and mentor the Legal, Compliance, and Contract Administration team.
- Promote professional development, continuous improvement, and collaborative team culture.
- Operate within budgetary constraints and optimize resource allocation.
Eligibility
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in India or another recognized jurisdiction.
- 5–10 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a professional services, IT, or staffing industry.
- Proven experience in APAC employment law and commercial legal advisory.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Deep understanding of legal risk in commercial operations, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders across senior levels.
- Prior experience in a Company Secretary role is essential.
Salary/Stipend
