Details of the Job/Internship

Nielsen is hiring for the position of Senior Legal Counsel with 7 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Role and Responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal advisor for sales teams across India and other APAC markets.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a variety of commercial contracts, including licenses, MSAs, SOWs, supplier agreements, technology services agreements, collaboration agreements, and NDAs.
• Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on contractual terms, legal risk, and compliance issues.
• Partner with internal teams at all levels to deliver clear legal guidance.
• Develop and implement templates, playbooks, and best practices to streamline contract processes and improve efficiency.
• Manage and resolve contract disputes and support litigation matters as required.
• Oversee cost-effective use of external counsel.
• Deliver legal and compliance training to internal stakeholders.
• Lead or support internal investigations into compliance/integrity issues and drive measures to prevent recurrence.

Eligibility

• Qualified lawyer in India (LLB/JD or equivalent) with 7+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial/contractual law.
• Strong background in negotiating complex license and commercial agreements, ideally in the media, data analytics, market research, or technology sectors.
• Experience at a recognized law firm and/or in-house with a multinational/global business preferred.
• Exposure to cross-border legal work and familiarity with the media/communications landscape is an advantage.
