Details of the Job/Internship
Pocket FM is hiring for the role of Senior Legal Counsel for their Bengaluru office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal advice and support on all aspects of intellectual property law, with a focus on content licensing, acquisition, and protection.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of IP-related agreements, including content licensing agreements, distribution agreements, and intellectual property assignment agreements.
- Conduct thorough intellectual property due diligence for content acquisitions and partnerships.
- Advise on content-related legal issues, including rights clearance, fair use, privacy, defamation, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including content acquisition, content operations, product development, and compliance, to ensure alignment with legal requirements and company policies.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to protect the company's intellectual property rights and minimize legal risks associated with content distribution.
- Stay informed about emerging legal developments, industry trends, and best practices in intellectual property and content law.
- Manage external counsel and other legal service providers as necessary.
Eligibility
- 8+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on intellectual property and content law preferred.
- Strong understanding of copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws and regulations, with specific knowledge of the digital media and entertainment industry.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex IP-related agreements in the OTT or media industry.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with technology platforms and digital content distribution models preferred.
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
