Details of the Job/Internship

Wayfair is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel with experience of 5 years to join their office in Bengaluru.

Role and Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor for Wayfair's operations in India, providing comprehensive legal support to all business units and functions. You will be the bridge between the business on the ground and the legal team in the US and Europe.
• Learn their business and industry, and develop and deploy a calibrated risk-based approach to complex and often uncertain legal issues. Find pragmatic solutions that are proportionate to the issue at hand.
• Play a leadership role in their organization; driving change, mentoring and coaching others, fostering inclusivity, and influencing the broader business.
• Ensure Wayfair's operations in India comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including data privacy, consumer protection, and intellectual property.
• Select and manage outside counsel where needed; hold external advisors to a high bar. You will manage the relationship between outside counsel and their internal teams to drive cost-effective and business-oriented solutions.
• Advise internal stakeholders on day-to-day and out-of-the-ordinary legal matters.
• Liaise with external counsel on litigation and strategize with the counsel to obtain the best possible outcome for Wayfair.
• Lead employment law matters. 

Eligibility

• LLB or higher degree from an accredited university in India.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification in India. In-house experience at a multinational company is preferred but not required.
• Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills, with the ability to navigate a large organization and collaborate cross-functionally. 
• Willingness to master new and unfamiliar areas of practice. Legal knowledge related to any of the following is a plus: employment law, commercial contracts, corporate, litigation, and e-commerce. 
• Project management experience and the ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and maintain flexibility in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, self-starter with a strong work ethic, a demonstrated ability to handle a demanding workload and a willingness to roll-up sleeves.
