Details of the Job/Internship

Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL) is hiring for the position of Senior Legal Manager with 7-10 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Role and Responsibilities

Litigation & Arbitration

• Handle litigation and arbitration matters across tribunals, High Courts, Supreme Court, and quasi-judicial fora.
• Analyze disputes, gather documents, and prepare case briefs for external lawyers/solicitors.
• Liaise with counsel to ensure timely and efficient progress of cases.
• Draft/review pleadings, replies, and legal documents.
• Represent the company in court and arbitration proceedings.
• Train business/unit teams to handle notices effectively and ensure timely responses.
• Maintain updated records on the legal case management platform.

Contracts & Commercial Advisory

• Draft, review, and update standard agreements and commercial contracts in line with evolving laws and business requirements.
• Participate in negotiations of key contracts to protect business interests.
• Validate business transactions and agreements for legal compliance.
• Conduct due diligence on leases, licenses, and acquisition of immovable properties.
• Advise business units on contractual obligations and consequences of breach.

Legal Advisory & Compliance

• Research and analyze applicable laws and judicial precedents to provide sound legal advice.
• Support compliance across labour, corporate, and sector-specific regulations.
• Ensure timely escalation and consultation with Head Legal, and seek external opinions when required.
• Promote legal awareness within business teams.

• Strong oral and written communication in English.
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to simplify complex legal issues into actionable business guidance.
• Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to handle high-volume work and competing priorities.
• Confidence in influencing stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Team-oriented mindset; experience working in a matrixed environment.

Eligibility

• LLB / LLM from a reputed Tier-I or Tier-II law school in India.
• 7–10 years of experience in general corporate law, banking & finance, and dispute resolution—ideally gained at a top-tier law firm, large multinational corporation, or equivalent.
• Licensed/qualified lawyer with demonstrated ability to handle both litigation and corporate advisory responsibilities.
