Details of the Job/Internship

Manipal Academy of Higher Education is hiring a Senior Legal Manager / Legal Manager with experience of 12+ years to join its Manipal main campus near Udupi, Karnataka. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end contract lifecycle management including drafting, review, and negotiation support.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency in contracting practices.
• Standardise templates and maintain contract playbooks.
• Support real estate documentation including leases, licences, land-related agreements, and development contracts.
• Ensure adherence to legal SOPs, approval matrices, and documentation standards.
• Conduct periodic quality checks and maintain audit-ready records.
• Identify process gaps and support continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with external counsel on litigation, arbitration, and dispute matters.
• Maintain litigation trackers and ensure documentation readiness.
• Assist in strategy inputs and risk assessment.
• Support IP protection by assisting in filing and registration of trademarks, copyrights, and licensing matters.
• Supervise and guide team members on execution quality and timelines.
• Train team members on processes, documentation discipline, and risk awareness.
• Work closely with internal departments to deliver practical, business-aligned legal solutions.
• Facilitate smooth execution of legal workflows across functions.

Eligibility

• LL.B. with 12+ years of PQE, including a minimum of 5 years in a corporate/in-house environment.
• Strong experience in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
• Exposure to real estate documentation, IP matters (trademark), and litigation coordination.
• Experience working in team-based environments with prior supervision experience.

Salary/Stipend
