Details of the Job/Internship

Sony Music Publishing India is hiring a Legal & Business Affairs Manager with 5+ years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate music publishing agreements, including exclusive songwriter agreements, admin agreements, and single song agreements.
• Assist with music publishing catalogue acquisitions, conduct legal due diligence, and draft acquisition agreements.
• Draft synchronization licenses and sample/adaptation agreements.
• Attend negotiation meetings and ensure timely deal closures.
• Conduct research on Indian case law relevant to music publishing.
• Handle corporate maintenance documentation, including boards/resolutions.
• Manage copyright infringement claims with Senior Director Legal and Business Affairs International.
• Provide legal support for matters arising from SMP India’s membership of IPRS.
• Respond to ad-hoc legal requests from various departments.
• Coordinate with external counsel as required.
• Provide regular updates to the Senior Director Legal and Business Affairs International on ongoing deals.

Eligibility

• LLB, admitted to practice in India.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in music or media and entertainment law.
• Strong knowledge of intellectual property, copyright, entertainment, and media laws.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, solution-focused, and able to meet deadlines efficiently.
• Fluent in English.

Salary/Stipend
