The foundation of The Phoenix Mills Ltd. was laid by the young visionary Mr. Ramnarayan Ruia in the year 1905 when Phoenix commenced operations as a textile manufacturing company. In 1959, Phoenix was listed on the BSE & in 1986, 2 prime commercial centers, Phoenix House and Phoenix Center with a total area spread over 350 thousand sq. ft. became operational. Followed by the success of these commercial projects, High Street Phoenix (HSP) was launched in 1987, as the flagship consumption center housing retail, entertainment, residential, and office complexes.

Details of the Job/Internship

The Phoenix Mills Ltd. is hiring for the position of Senior Legal Manager with 6-8 years of experience to join their Pune office. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Ensure that the projects maintain a strong and consistent legal compliance record and also are completed and operated as per statutory/regulatory norms and no penalty clauses are invoked against the Company.
• Support the leasing/projects/Marketing/ Finance & Accounts/ center Operation teams by providing expert advice on legal and regulatory matters related to the project.
• Ensure and oversee timely submission of relevant documents and returns to external stakeholders / regulatory authorities and represent the company for resolution of any legal issue or escalation.
• Drive legal negotiations personally with inline/vanilla clients a and ensure the process of lease negotiations with all tenants is carried out as per the defined process.
• Ensure the registration of the final agreement document is carried out as per statutory guidelines.
• Ensures compliance of all legal documents with relevant legal framework.
• Vet the termination notices to be sent to retailers and review the replies to the legal notices received or legal issues.
• Provide legal assistance in cases of any material breach of non-negotiable terms and conditions and for termination of agreement.
• Knowledge of legal administration, especially contract related matters.
• In-depth understanding of the development / construction business in the retail and hospitality sectors.
• Drafting agreements like Development, Sale, Lease, Leave & License etc.
• Statutory/ Regulatory Compliance Management.
• Knowledge of leasing administration process.
• Knowledge of latest developments/case laws relevant to the mall operations/ busines.
• Basic understanding of taxes – Direct & Indirect.
• Negotiation skills.

Eligibility

• 6 - 8 years of total experience, and at least 3 years in the real estate industry.
• At least 3 years' experience in a leading law firm with Litigation/ Non – Litigation background.
• Graduate / Post Graduate in Law from a reputed institute
• Qualified Solicitor.

Salary/Stipend

Compensation details will be finalized during the interview process with the selected candidate.
