Details of the Job/Internship
They are seeking a proactive and skilled In-House Trademark Associate to join their Intellectual Property (IP) team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of trademark-related matters, including trademark filing, prosecution, enforcement, and portfolio management. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting the company’s trademarks and supporting its global branding efforts, collaborating closely with other members of the IP team.
Role and Responsibilities
Trademark Filing and Prosecution:
- Manage the filing, prosecution, and maintenance of trademarks in domestic and international jurisdictions.
- Conduct clearance searches, prepare applications, and respond to office actions to ensure successful trademark registrations.
Brand Protection & Enforcement:
- Collaborate with the IP team to protect the company's brands from counterfeit and unauthorized use, leveraging both legal and strategic approaches to ensure robust brand protection.
- Develop and implement strategies to enforce the company’s trademarks, including monitoring for infringement, drafting cease and desist letters, and handling opposition and cancellation proceedings.
Portfolio Management:
- Manage the company’s trademark portfolio, ensuring timely renewals, monitoring usage, and addressing any issues that may arise to protect the brand.
Internal Collaboration:
- Work with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and legal, to ensure proper trademark usage and compliance with branding guidelines.
Eligibility
Essential Qualification:
- LLB in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) or Post-graduate Diploma in IPR.
- Active bar membership in good standing.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in trademark filing, prosecution, enforcement, and litigation.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international trademark laws and registration processes.
Desired Qualification:
- Experience working within a corporate IP team.
- Knowledge of other areas of IP law, such as copyrights or patents, is a plus.
