Details of the Job/Internship
Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys is hiring a Legal Translator responsible for translating Hindi legal judgments and documents into precise and legally sound English.
Role and Responsibilities
- Translate Hindi court judgments, orders, pleadings, and legal opinions into formal legal English.
- Ensure accuracy of legal terminology, citations, and procedural language.
- Maintain consistency with legal drafting standards and court-specific formats.
- Proofread and review translated documents for linguistic and legal accuracy.
- Adhere to confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Coordinate with advocates, associates, and partners for clarifications when required.
- Meet strict timelines for filings, opinions, and client deliverables.
Eligibility
- Strong command of Hindi and English, including legal comprehension.
- Proven experience in legal translation of judgments and opinions.
- Sound understanding of Indian legal terminology, statutes, and court procedures.
- Ability to interpret complex legal language with precision.
- Background in law or prior experience with law firms or courts is preferred.
- Experience translating High Court or Supreme Court judgments is preferred.
- Familiarity with legal citation styles and drafting conventions is preferred.
