Barclays is looking for candidate for the position of VP-EIP for their legal department.
Role and Responsibilities
- Being responsible for managing and advising on all India-related EIP legal and regulatory issues and provide pragmatic, commercial, and effective legal support to all businesses and infrastructure units in India with respect to EIP law matters, working closely with the APAC Head of EIP Legal and the India Legal function.
- Taking ownership for identifying, analysing and communicating legal risk to others, and ensuring timely and appropriate escalation and reporting of risk and control issues under Barclays’ Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework.
- Liaising with other members of the Global EIP Legal team and other Legal teams and other functions within APAC and globally, to share best practice and drive consistency and efficiency.
- Manage and provide oversight of EIP litigation across India.
- Advise on EIP law aspects of local, regional, and global projects.
- Legal review and revision of standard contracts, policies and templates for HR and others as appropriate.
- Leading in the development and improvement of processes, policies, and procedures designed to reduce EIP legal risk.
- Ensuring that changes and developments in legislation, regulations, guidelines, and practices affecting the business are analysed, evaluated, and reported, and that relevant stakeholders are supported with implementing change as required.
Eligibility
- Experience in managing employment disputes, and M&A, acquisitions, disposals, outsourcing/insourcing.
- Experience in the financial services sector and investment banking organisations.
- Experience in an in-house environment either as an employee or via secondment.
- Experience working across multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.
- Qualified lawyer with experience of providing employment law advice in India in private practice and/or similar in-house environment.
