Securities and Exchange Board of India (hereinafter referred to as "Board" or "SEBI") is an autonomous, statutory organization established in accordance with the provisions of the SEBI Act, 1992 of the Parliament of India. The basic function of SEBI as mandated by the SEBI Act is “to protect the interests of investors in securities and to promote the development of, and to regulate the securities market and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto".
Details of the Job/Internship
The Securities and Exchange Board of India invites applications from eligible candidates who are desirous of engagement with the Board under its Young Professional Program.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conducting research on topics in securities market with knowledge/ability to use programming language to process and analyse large datasets to generate insights/recommendations for policy.
- Analyse international practices in securities market to generate insights/recommendations for policy.
- Regularly analyze market/macro trends and impact of market conditions and deliver infographics and trend summaries for publication.
- Develop a digital timeline of major milestones, institutions, reforms in Indian capital-market evolution.
- Curate archival materials, visuals, and oral histories.
- Data and inputs for systemic research.
- Behavioural insights in securities regulation.
- Collect and visualize data to inform policymaking and investor-education initiatives.
- Regulatory landscape mapping.
- Stakeholder segmentation and cost-benefit evidence cataloguing.
- Global benchmarking notes on RIA practices.
- Design perception/feedback and compliance surveys.
- Formulate methodology for computation of compliance costs.
- Regulatory data quality analysis for gaps, outliers, and duplication.
- Work on validation and metadata standards.
Eligibility
- Post Graduate qualification (degree/2-year diploma) in Management (with specialization in Finance)/Economics/Commerce/Financial Economics/Business Economics/Applied Statistics/Econometrics from a recognized and reputed university/ institution, with minimum 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA.
- Preference shall be given to candidates who have completed their PhD in relevant fields like Economics/Econometrics/Finance/Commerce preferably with focus on financial markets.
- For Candidates with only Post-Graduate qualification at least 1 (one) year of research/work experience in areas including but not limited to financial markets, corporate finance, macroeconomic theory, corporate governance, financial institutions and related areas of international finance. This may be supported by published work/working papers/ submission of papers in international or domestic research conferences.
- For candidates with PhD qualification, the requisite work experience is not mandatory.
- Knowledge of statistical software.
Salary/Stipend
YPs shall be paid a monthly stipend of INR 70,000 (all inclusive). Income tax or any other tax liable to be deducted as per the applicable rules will be deducted at source before effecting the payment. The Board shall not be liable for taxes or any other contribution payable by the YP on payments made to him/her under this engagement.
