Department of Consumer Affairs is one of the two Departments under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. It was constituted as a separate Department in June 1997, as it was considered necessary to have a separate Department to give a fillip to the nascent consumer movement in the country.

Details of the Job/Internship

Department of Consumer Affairs invites applications for the position of Young Professional (CPU Division) with a minimum of 1 year of work experience in the relevant field.

Role and Responsibilities

• Drafting of Notices & Replies.
• Drafting of various rules & regulations under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
• Assisting in preparing para-wise comments in Court Cases (High Court/Supreme Court).
• Tendering legal advice on various issues relating to the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
• Assisting and providing inputs for Parliament Questions and related matters.
• Any other work assigned by higher officers.

Eligibility

• Essential Qualification: LLB.
• Proficiency in English and computers, especially MS Office (Professional PowerPoint presentation techniques, Basic Data Analytics).
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in the relevant field.

Salary/Stipend

An initial consolidated amount of Rs 40,000/- per month.
